Developing as a Professional Educator

Parent Brochure

I designed a welcome brochure during my clinical practice that I could use to introduce myself to the students and families in my fieldwork classroom. This brochure is an example of how I can communicate effectively with parents about my classroom.

Lesson Observation Protocols (LOP)

On multiple occasions during my clinical practice, I was observed and critiqued by a University Supervisor as well as my Master Teacher. Attached is a sample of the LOP filled out by my Master Teacher following a writing lesson. Following each of these lessons, I would take time to review the notes provided to me by my observers. I would also take time to self-reflect. In order to grow as an educator, I have to be willing to keep learning and reflecting.

As usual, Andrea delivered a solid writing lesson using materials that she created on her own. She talked about using reasons and examples to support opinion writing. Andrea used a topic that was engaging (candy) and fun, and scaffolded the instruction to ensure success by all children. She always reflects on her lessons afterward and asks for feedback. It is behavior like this that solidifies my opinion that she will be an excellent teacher in her own classroom.
